Mekhala was tasked with delivering technical excellence in integrated communications (Design, Social Media Management, Imagery, and Capacity Building) with a deep commitment to Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles.

Protect All Mothers: Regional Maternity Protection Campaign

From November 2020 to May 2021, Mekhala led a regional communication campaign for Oxfam across Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam in support of “Protect All Mothers: Securing Dignified Lives for Women,” a campaign advancing maternity protection and workers’ rights grounded in ILO Convention 183. Mekhala developed the campaign’s regional communication strategy, led on-the-ground implementation in Cambodia, and provided ongoing content and design support to Oxfam’s Laos and Vietnam country offices.

Our Role

  • Developed the regional communication strategy for the campaign across Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, and led on-the-ground implementation in Cambodia.
  • Provided ongoing content, design, and content-calendar support to Oxfam’s Laos and Vietnam country offices.
  • Produced a bilingual (Khmer/English) social media toolkit and video content built around maternity protection and workers’ rights messaging.
  • Coordinated media and public-figure partnerships to extend the campaign’s reach, including securing Miss Universe Cambodia as a public voice for the cause.
  • Facilitated stakeholder workshops across Oxfam’s Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam teams, and conducted impact monitoring and evaluation, submitting a final campaign report.

Task/Outcome

  • Create a 14-month work plan and audit Oxfam Mekong’s social media channels.
  • Design templates, print-ready leaflets, and stand-posters.
  • Manage social media channels with weekly regional media monitoring.
  • Deliver photography/video coverage for 3–4 regional events.
  • Produce 2–3 infographics/animated explainers and policy briefs or digital cards.
  • Conduct a 2-day virtual/hybrid workshop on ethical storytelling, photography, and social media.
  • Archive all assets and submit a final engagement report with performance metrics.
